Scheuch GmbH draws on the Leo Lufti engineering competition to get young people excited about engineering. Taking part in the competition required the young applicants to come up with creative ideas on the subject of air pollution control. Students from the “Neue Mittelschule 2” secondary school in Ried, Austria, won the judges over with computer games they had designed themselves and were awarded first place. They developed and programmed games featuring the Scheuch Leo Lufti mascot. The aim of the games is to fit as many factories with filter systems as possible, therefore making a contribution to keeping the air clean. The students were rewarded with a trip to the Ars Electronica Center in Linz. On the day of the award ceremony, the class spent the morning in the training workshop where they made their own game out of sheet metal, which allowed them to gain their first experience of working with the material.
